Ceiba

Project Ceiba is AWS and NVIDIA’s project to build what they describe as the world’s largest AI supercomputer in the cloud, hosted on AWS to power NVIDIA’s own AI research. This short film tells that story.

I joined as technical producer and lead after the film had been planned and recorded, when the original producer fell ill, and got it over the line.

Partnership films like this are always hard. You are working with two sets of stakeholders, at AWS and at NVIDIA, each with their own culture and way of doing things, and you are building the partnership as you make the film.

When I picked it up, the film was too long. I cut it down to about two minutes and pulled out short social cuts that could each stand on their own. Every line is somebody’s favourite, so you are always cutting someone’s baby. It was a fun project.
