A Synchronous
World

A Matrix-inspired cold open imagining a fully synchronous world, right down to french fries cooked one at a time. The film set up the keynote's argument before Werner said a word: the world is asynchronous, and software should be too.

I wrote and led the film, and Monks produced it beautifully. It became one of the most talked-about re:Invent openings ever.
